Prospère
Hache-Gallant was born in Beaubassin (Amherst) Nova
Scotia about 1780. He married Angelique Arsenault,
the daughter of Fidile Arsenault, around 1798 or 1800 in Cascumpec,
I'ile Saint-Jean. Her mother, the sister of Pierre Bernard had
died.
Prospère
was one of the most remarkable men of his time. He spoke English
fairly well. He was the confidante of John Hill, a merchant
who came from England at that time. It was he who organized
with his sons a commercial enterprise of considerable undertaking
at The Point near Alberton, Prince Edward Island. It was to
Prospère that John Hill dedicated the delicate mission
and responsibility of transporting correspondence and his agents
between The Point and Charlottetown, P.E. I. Prospère
did this sometimes on foot and other times riding through the
fields.
Prospère and Angelique Arsenault had sixteen children.
When she died, Prospere married Angelique Petitpas
and had five more. children.

and moved to Tignish, Prince Edward Island in 1825. They had

Sylvain
Gallant was born Abt. 1803, Cascumpec, Prince County,
l'ile du Prince Edouard. He married Marie Gaudet, who was born
in 1808, in Miscouche, Prince Edward Island and lived in Tignish.
