Mary Matilda (Mary Maud) Gallant was
born on August 4, 1892 in Tignish, PEI and was the first child
of Francis (Frank) Gallant and Frances (Fanny) McIver. She had
three brothers and four sisters follow her.
Mary Maud's family moved to Newton around
1896. She attended school there then went to college for her
license as a teacher and taught school in Tignish, PEI.
Mary Maud married Felix Parnell (Parnell)
McCarville on April 25th, 1925 in Kinkora, Prince Edward Island.
Parnell was the son of Owen McCarville and Bridget Murphy. He
was born September 6, 1885 in Maple Plains, PEI, and died April
4, 1963 in Kinkora, PEI.
Mary Maud and Parnell lived on a farm in Maple Plains, PEI and
had nine children - Leo, Francis (who died young), George, Lorne,
Emmett, George, Francis and Mary.
When Parnell
died in 1963, Mary Maud went to live with her son, Lorne and his
family in Middleton, PEI. She spent many happy years there before
passing away at the age of 87 in 1979.
